This video represents a project similar to the one HBC is embarking upon.
It is about children living with HIV and will never see adulthood.
HBC will collect similar video as well as pictures to share with our USA friends.

This project is based solely around mobilizing specific African countries on HIV/AIDS awareness. The intentions are to customize the mobilization of communities and villages based on the scope of the epidemic in that country. Currently, HBC partners with organizations in both Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa. In April 2009, CEO Evans will be embarking upon a five country tour to visit AIDS orphanages, hospitals and villages where HIV/AIDSA has and continues to have a devastating impact on the citizens of that country. The focus is to exchange what works in the United States around community mobilization and learn various strategies used in Africa to mobilize villages and communities around the epidemic. The following two projects are under the Black AIDS Project - Africa umbrella:

HBC 2009 5-country African Tour: On April 28, 2009, HBC's CEO Evans will embark upon a very rigorous and exciting tour to five African countries (Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Rwanda and the Central Republic of Congo). This tour is a fact finding and exchange humanitarian trip. There are seven primary goals for this trip:

  1. Visit and understand through pictures and video what African AIDS Orphans go through;
  2. Meet with other Non Governmental Organization leaders to discuss partnership with HBC;
  3. Tour the poorest areas of each country to collect human interest video & pictures;
  4. Speak with local village leaders and tribal chiefs regarding relationship development;
  5. Share & Exchange effective HIV/AIDS health education & disease prevention strategies;
  6. Participate in various HIV/AIDS community and village programs/projects; and
  7. Develop a blueprint for working together to stem the transmission of HIV/AIDS.

Each country visited will have its own challenges around HIV prevention. This tour will focus on expanding the Black AIDS Project - USA components of mobilizing communities around education, testing, involvement and treatment. Given the resource challenges in certain African countries, treatment will be one of the hardest conversations to engage.

HBC needs your support for this project, there is a total of $10,000 needed to purchase boxes of medical supplies and ship them to each country, transport clothes and shoes to donate to African children and young adults, purchase food for the AIDS orphans and poor villages as well as cover overhead costs for visiting each country.
